The benchmark Nikkei 225 closed up 506.45 points, or 0.74%, at 69,220.25.
Oil prices remained stable even as uncertainty over energy supply persisted following US President Donald Trump's announcement to "substantially reduce" joint military drills with South Korea, indicating ongoing US preparations for future Middle East escalations.
On the corporate side, Park24 (TYO:4666) sales of Times parking in July rose 8.9% year-on-year, according to a Monday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
