Japanese equities opened higher on Thursday, shaking off Wall Street's declines after the US Federal Reserve delivered its first interest rate hike since 2023 and signaled further tightening.
The Nikkei gained 720.6 points, or 1.1%, to start at 64,643.58, though it pared some of those gains in early trading.
