Japanese shares advanced at Thursday's open, following a moderate U.S. consumer price index (CPI) reading that reinforced expectations that the Federal Reserve may ease its monetary policy trajectory.
The Nikkei 225 rose 509.1 points, or 0.8%, to start trading at 68,033.17.
July U.S. consumer price increases aligned with projections, while a core inflation gauge registered its most moderate reading since early 2021.
The figures provided reassurance to markets, coming after previous labor market softness had already tempered rate hike expectations.
