Japan Tobacco's (TYO:2914) profit attributable to owners of the parent jumped to 431.8 billion yen for the first half from 319.9 billion yen a year earlier.
The tobacco company's diluted earnings per share increased to 243.22 yen from 180.17 yen a year earlier, according to a Thursday Tokyo bourse filing.
Revenue rose 18% to 1.986 trillion yen for the six months ended June 30 from 1.687 trillion yen a year earlier.
Japan Tobacco raised its interim dividend to 136 yen per share from its previous forecast of 121 yen and from 104 yen a year earlier. It also increased its full-year dividend forecast to 272 yen per share from 242 yen previously.
For the year ending Dec. 31, Japan Tobacco expects profit attributable to owners of the parent of 644 billion yen, with basic earnings per share projected to be 362.74 yen. Revenue is expected to be to 3.885 trillion yen.
