Japanese stocks reporting earnings declined on Wednesday, with retailers and thermometer manufacturers leading the laggards.
Pan Pacific International Holdings (TYO:7532) shares tumbled nearly 11% despite posting a 22% year-over-year increase in attributable profit for the fiscal year 2026 to 110.1 billion yen.
Earnings per share were 36.71 yen while net sales for the 12 months ended June 30 grew 9% to 2.445 trillion yen.
The retailer declared a final dividend of 6.50 yen per share, payable from Sept. 30.
For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027, the company expects an attributable profit of 110.5 billion yen, basic EPS of 36.61 yen, and net sales of 2.687 trillion yen.
Terumo's (TYO:4543) shares fell over 5% despite first-quarter earnings coming in higher. Profit attributable to owners of the parent climbed 68.3% to 70.4 billion yen for the fiscal first quarter.
The thermometer maker's earnings per share rose to 47.73 yen while revenue increased 19.9% to 311.8 billion yen in the three months ended June 30.
For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, the company now anticipates attributable profit of 193.1 billion yen from 165.3 billion yen initially and basic EPS of 130.91 yen from 112.06 yen previously. The forecast for revenue remains unchanged at 1.239 trillion yen.
