Japanese stocks reporting earnings traded mixed on Wednesday, with gains led by factory automation equipment makers while semiconductor companies declined.
Keyence (TYO:6861) shares jumped 11% after the factory automation equipment maker posted a 51% year-over-year increase in attributable net income to 139.1 billion yen in the fiscal first quarter. Earnings per share rose to 573.69 yen while net sales surged 33% to 346.6 billion yen.
The company plans to pay interim and year-end dividends of 275 yen per share each for the year, unchanged from the year-ago period.
Screen (TYO:7735) declined by 16% after posting a 37% year-over-year decline in attributable profit for the fiscal first quarter to 10.5 billion yen. The semiconductor company's earnings per share fell to 55.47 yen, while net sales slid 10% to 121.8 billion yen.
For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, Screen expects an attributable profit of 115 billion yen, basic EPS of 608.06 yen and net sales of 743 billion yen.
Screen maintained its interim dividend forecast of 60 yen but raised its final dividend to 123 yen per share from 115 yen earlier.
