Jacobs Wins Regulatory Work For UK MESH Energy Storage Project

Jacobs Solutions (J) will support EnergyPathways' regulatory and planning work for its MESH energy storage project, targeting operations by 2031, the company said Tuesday.

Jacobs will lead the planning and development consent order strategy, including environmental planning, technical coordination and stakeholder engagement under the UK's Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project process.

MESH will operate in the Irish Sea, with onshore infrastructure connecting to Barrow-in-Furness, and could become one of the UK's largest integrated energy storage projects at 300 megawatts and 55 gigawatt-hours.

The project will combine compressed air energy storage with natural gas and hydrogen storage to balance renewable generation and provide more than 190 hours of storage.

Jacobs will also help EnergyPathways apply to Ofgem's upcoming long-duration electricity storage cap-and-floor scheme, while managing environmental and technical work and supporting the grid connection application.

Jacobs will engage local councils and regional government, align statutory consents and technical studies with the project schedule, and assess planning and legislative changes to identify risks and streamline regulatory delivery.

DoGo Power Expands into Mali with Grid-Forming Energy Storage

DoGo Power said on Monday that it is expanding into Mali with grid-forming energy storage systems as the Chinese power technology company seeks to tap growing demand for more reliable electricity.The energy firm is targeting commercial and industrial customers as well as utility-scale power projects, where its storage systems can be paired with solar and diesel generation to provide backup power and reduce reliance on fuel-fired generation.The country's solar potential offers another incentive for investment. Mali receives over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year on average, providing favorable conditions for combining photovoltaic generation with battery storage.DoGo Power said its grid-forming technology is designed to maintain power for critical loads during grid fluctuations and outages. The systems can also be integrated into solar-storage-diesel configurations, allowing users to increase renewable energy consumption while reducing diesel use.

NANO Nuclear, Enveniam Sign MOU to Explore US Nuclear Fuel, Microreactor Projects
