Chinese firm JA Solar has shipped the first batch of photovoltaic modules to Masdar's round-the-clock 5.2-gigawatt solar project, integrated with a 19-gigawatt-hour battery storage system, in Abu Dhabi, UAE, it said on Thursday.
The development is designed to provide 1 GW of daily baseload power beginning 2027, to support rising energy demand from artificial intelligence, according to the statement.
JA Solar, one of the suppliers for a 3 GW module supply order, has delivered its DeepBlue modules, which are specifically designed to support the high-load operation of AI data centers exposed to extreme climates.
