Nittetsu Mining (TYO:1515) expects a delay in the start of production at its Arqueros copper mine project in Chile, citing continued rainfall in August, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Friday.
The company had earlier scheduled production to begin between July and September, but rainfall has disrupted transport of personnel, materials and equipment, preventing full restoration of construction at the copper concentrate plant.
Nittetsu also faced longer‑than‑expected procedures to secure power supply.
However, the rainfall has not materially impacted the mining area itself, except for disruptions to the transportation of personnel, the company said.
