INmune Bio (INMB) said Tuesday that a phase 2 clinical trial of its experimental drug XPro1595 demonstrated a "statistically significant treatment effect" on white matter brain biomarkers to treat patients with early onset Alzheimer's disease.
The biotech firm said that while previous studies on Alzheimer's disease have focused heavily on gray matter pathology, white matter degeneration and myelin loss "are increasingly recognized as fundamental, early contributors to cognitive decline."
INmune Bio said the 24-week trial evaluated patients with mild cognitive impairment and mild Alzheimer's dementia.
INmune Bio shares were 1.4% higher in Tuesday trading.
