The Indian government has imposed restrictions on the bulk purchase of high-speed diesel from retail outlets to prevent hoarding and ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies, state-own Akashvani News reported on Friday, citing the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry.
Retail outlets have been asked to sell a maximum of 200 liters of high-speed diesel to one customer in a day.
The government has restricted the purchase of motor spirit and high-speed diesel by institutional, industrial, and commercial customers from retail outlets and directed them to secure their supplies from their own consumer pumps.
The restrictions are in place for up to 90 days, the report said.
The measures have been taken in the backdrop of the West Asia conflict which has resulted in global energy supply chain disruptions.
According to the Ministry, the restrictions are a temporary measure to prevent unscrupulous practices which are causing hassle for retail customers and farmers, the report added.
