India Top Diplomat Pushes China to Address Fair Market Access, Trade Balance

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar told Chinese counterpart Wang Yi to address fair market access and trade balance during a meeting in Manila, Philippines, on Wednesday.

"Fair market access and a trade balance ranks high in that regard There are also concerns about predictability of supply chains. Facilitating both official and people-to-people exchanges merit our attention," Jaishankar said in his opening remarks at the sidelines of the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference in the Philippine capital.

The statement comes as both nuclear powers try to mend ties after clashes on their borders erupted in 2020, according to a Reuters report the same day.

Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks that helped improve relations between New Delhi and Beijing in 2024, according to the newswire.
