Crude throughput of Indian refiners declined to 21.4 million metric tons in April, down from March processing of 23.5 mmt and versus last year's 21.9 mmt, provisional government data showed on Tuesday, as access to Middle Eastern barrels remained restricted.
Indian refiners turned to Latin America and Africa for alternative crude supplies, Reuters said, citing trade sources.
In terms of petroleum products from refineries and fractionators, India produced a total of 22.3 mmt in April, lower than the prior month's 25.1 mmt and last year's 22.4 mmt, according to government data.
