IDP Education Rejects Blackstone's Takeover Proposal

By

IDP Education (ASX:IEL) rejected an unsolicited, non-binding AU$2.50 per share cash takeover proposal from Blackstone, following the rejection of an earlier AU$2.30 per share offer, according to an Australian bourse filing on Tuesday after market hours.

The company said the proposal significantly undervalues the business and fails to reflect the value of its global platform, future earnings potential, and the benefits expected from its multi-year transformation strategy, per the filing.

The proposal was conditional on a four-week exclusivity period, due diligence, regulatory approvals, final Blackstone investment committee approval, and unanimous board recommendation, the filing said.

The company described the offer as "opportunistic" amid current industry conditions, noting that its shares traded above AU$2.50 as recently as late June, the filing added.
