Hyundai Motor Company (KRX:005380) union workers staged its first full strike in a decade on Friday after negotiations with the management over a wage hike, an increase in the retirement age, and job protections against artificial intelligence and automation failed in South Korea.
Reuters reported Friday, citing officials, that about 40,000 Hyundai workers were expected to stage a walkout, while about 1,300 union members and 3,000 members from affiliate Kia and suppliers are expected to join the Seoul rally.
The strike is the union's first full-day walkout since 2016, the report said.
