Hong Kong stocks closed lower Thursday as investors took profits in technology shares despite Nvidia's stronger-than-expected earnings
The Hang Seng Index fell 87.23 points, or 0.3%, to close at 25,565.74, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 43.53 points, or 0.5%, to finish at 8,490.31.
Nvidia's strong results lifted Asian tech stocks, but Hong Kong shares remained under pressure amid concerns over valuations and U.S. interest rates.
Investors also looked ahead to Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole on Friday for further clues on interest rates.
Oil prices continued to ease, extending their decline for a fourth straight session as investors watched efforts to revive U.S.-Iran peace talks.
In corporate news, Mixue (HKG:2097) closed over 8% lower after posting a decline in first-half profit.
