Hong Kong stocks edged lower at market open on Tuesday as investors tracked the progress of talks between Iran and the U.S.
The Hang Seng Index edged down 18.81 points, or roughly 0.08%, to 23,007.87, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 6.3 points, or 0.08%, to 7,599.02.
Representatives from Iran and the U.S. were due in Doha this week, but Tehran said no meeting had been scheduled between both sides, highlighting the fragility of a June 17 agreement to pause fighting that has disrupted global oil flows, Reuters reported.
Traders also appeared to be waiting for June labor data in the U.S. for clues on the Federal Reserve's stance on rate hikes.
