Hong Kong stocks opened lower on Thursday, bucking gains across Asian markets as investors weighed easing expectations for U.S. rate hikes.
The Hang Seng Index fell 0.6%, or 152.10 points, to 25,288.07, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index dropped 0.5%, or 45.39 points, to 8,400.88.
Asian markets broadly advanced after U.S. inflation data came in as expected, reducing expectations for a near-term Federal Reserve rate hike.
Investors also remained cautious over the Middle East as Washington and Tehran made little progress toward ending the Gulf conflict and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
