Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Monday as softer U.S. jobs data eased expectations for a near-term Federal Reserve rate hike, lifting sentiment across Asian markets.
The Hang Seng Index rose 0.5%, or 137.15 points, to 25,805.18, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.6%, or 52.24 points, to 8,583.82.
Wall Street closed at record highs on Friday after weaker-than-expected U.S. jobs data boosted hopes that the Federal Reserve would keep interest rates unchanged in the near term.
Oil prices edged higher as progress toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz remained limited. Brent crude rose 0.9%, while U.S. crude gained 0.7%.
