Hong Kong Stocks Open Higher Following U.S. Tech Rally, Easing Oil Concerns

By

Hong Kong stocks rose at the start of Tuesday's trading session after artificial intelligence-related momentum lifted U.S. tech names and a retreat in oil prices allayed investor concerns about market supply constraints.

The Hang Seng Index gained 0.5%, or 128 points, to 25,170.80. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 0.4%, or 33 points, to 8,373.03.

Meta Platforms led the rally on the Nasdaq after its latest consumer AI offering, Muse, was well received ahead of its Meta Connect 2026 event on Wednesday and Thursday. Chip darlings like Intel and AMD also notched double-digit percentage gains, helping the index close at an all-time high on Monday.

The global oil benchmark traded in the low $90s per barrel on Tuesday as investors became optimistic about the diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East. U.S. President Donald Trump, who will address the UN General Assembly in New York later in the day, could also meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to make a deal that could improve ties between Washington and Tehran.
