Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Monday as optimism ahead of a busy week of U.S. technology earnings outweighed concerns over surging oil prices and escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The Hang Seng Index rose 1.1%, or 272.79 points, to 24,835.03, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 1.4%, or 116.00 points, to 8,252.73.
Brent crude climbed above $90 a barrel amid intensifying fighting between the United States and Iran.
At the same time, investors also looked ahead to earnings from Alphabet, Tesla and Intel following last week's chip-led selloff, with results expected to provide fresh insight into demand for artificial intelligence.
