Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Thursday as investors weighed the U.S. Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged against renewed tensions in the Middle East.
The Hang Seng Index rose 0.3%, or 67.91 points, to 25,875.83, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.6%, or 50.67 points, to 8,674.19.
Wall Street ended lower overnight after the Federal Reserve held interest rates steady as expected, though three policymakers dissented in favor of a quarter-point rate hike.
Oil prices jumped about 8% as renewed airstrikes in the Middle East reignited concerns over global energy supplies.
Investors also digested earnings from Meta Platforms while awaiting results from Amazon and Apple later this week.
