Hong Kong Exchange Processes 698 IPO Applications Through May

Hong Kong processed 698 initial public offering applications through May 29, with 500 applications still under review, according to a monthly report released by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKG:0388) on Friday.

Hong Kong recorded 62 new listings year-to-date, with all but one on the main board. On the flip side, 22 companies delisted during the period.

The number of listed companies stood at 2,726 as of May 29, up from 2,686 at the start of the year, data showed.

DroneShield Falls After Shareholders Deliver First Strike Against Remuneration Report

DroneShield (ASX:DRO) shares fell nearly 12% in recent Monday trade after it said late Friday that shareholders delivered a first strike against the company's remuneration report at its annual general meeting.Around half of shareholders voted against a resolution to adopt the remuneration report at the May 29 meeting.Under Australia's Corporations Act, a first strike occurs when a listed company's remuneration report receives a "no" vote from at least 25% of shareholders. A second strike has the potential to lead to a re-election of the board.In February, DroneShield adopted new trading and disclosure policies to address the findings of a governance review, which was conducted in response to an ASX letter in November 2025. The letter detailed concerns regarding the company's practices around market disclosure and trading by directors and senior executives.

Shionogi & Co Secures US FDA Approval for Oral Antiviral to Prevent COVID-19 After Exposure

The US Food and Drug Administration approved Shionogi & Co's (TYO:4507) Xocova or ensitrelvir as the first and only oral antiviral for post-exposure prophylaxis of COVID-19 in individuals aged 12 and older, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Monday.The approval, which came ahead of the June 16 Prescription Drug User Fee Act action date, was supported by Phase 3 Scorpio-PEP trial results, which showed a 67% reduction in symptomatic COVID-19 risk following exposure compared to placebo.The treatment was generally well tolerated, with adverse event rates similar to placebo, and no reports of altered taste attributed to the drug.
