Hong Kong's Exchange Fund posted investment income of HK$134.7 billion for the first half of 2026, down from HK$214 billion a year earlier, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said Tuesday.
The fund recorded gains of HK$49.1 billion on bonds, HK$53.7 billion on other equities, HK$34.3 billion from currency translation on non-Hong Kong dollar assets, and HK$9.4 billion on other investments.
Total assets of the exchange fund stood at HK$4.46 trillion at the end of June, up from HK$4.16 trillion at the end of 2025.
The HKMA said the fund benefited from strong global equity market performance, particularly AI-driven gains in semiconductor and technology stocks.
The authority cautioned that geopolitical tensions, uncertainty over U.S. monetary policy and volatility in exchange rates could weigh on investment markets in the second half.
