Hassan Allam Utilities, Infinity Power and Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company signed a power purchase agreement for the 1-gigawatt Ras Shokeir wind project in Egypt, Hassan Allam said in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday.
The project will cover about 143 square kilometers within the Gulf of Suez wind corridor in Egypt's Red Sea Governorate, using the area's strong wind resources to supply renewable power to the national grid.
Ras Shokeir is expected to produce electricity for over 1.2 million households, adding a major source of renewable power to Egypt's national grid.
The project also expects to prevent over 1.36 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
The agreement builds on Hassan Allam Utilities' renewable energy activities with its partners, which include more than $3.5 billion in investments across a diversified 3.3 GW portfolio of projects under development.
