Hanwha, EDGE Group to Collaborate on UAE Air Defense

South Korea's Hanwha (KRX:000880) and the United Arab Emirates' EDGE Group signed a term sheet to jointly develop an integrated air defense system, according to a press release on Wednesday.

The agreement addresses the UAE's air defense requirements, covering South Korea's Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (L-SAM) system, additional Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (M-SAM) capabilities, and the Chunmoo Multiple Rocket Launcher System (MRLS).

Pending regulatory approvals, the two defense firms plan to explore establishing a joint venture in the UAE to support technology transfers, phased localization and local manufacturing.
