Hanwha Aerospace (KRX:012450) reported a serious industrial accident at its Daejeon facility on June 1, when a fire of unknown cause broke out during a cleaning operation, resulting in five fatalities and two injuries.
The company notified the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the same day, and authorities have since issued a partial work stoppage order for the affected area, according to a Korean bourse filing on Tuesday.
Police and labor officials are investigating the incident, as the exact cause remains unclear, while Hanwha plans to conduct special safety training across all sites and establish preventive measures.
In a separate disclosure, the company said the production suspension affects approximately 1.32 trillion won in annual sales based on 2025 figures, representing 4.94% of the company's consolidated revenue of 26.70 trillion won for the latest fiscal year.
Hanwha Aerospace has yet to set a resumption date for production, but plans to conduct site-wide special safety training and establish preventive measures before restarting operations.
Meanwhile, Hanwha Aerospace said it is prioritizing treatment and support for the injured while working to prevent any recurrence of such an accident.
