Guotai Haitong Securities (SHA:601211, HKG:2611) reported a 29% year-over-year increase in first-half profit, driven by a surge in operating revenue and the integration of artificial intelligence into its wealth management operations.
Profit attributable to shareholders rose to 20.3 billion yuan from 15.7 billion yuan in the prior-year period, the brokerage said in a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse. Diluted earnings per share increased 2.7% year over year to 1.14 yuan from 1.11 yuan.
Total revenue and other income jumped 47.1% to 66.85 billion yuan from 45.43 billion yuan a year earlier.
The company attributed its robust financial performance to strengthened risk control and management systems amid an increasing influx of funds into capital markets.
To bolster its wealth management division, the firm deployed several upgraded AI applications. This included the rollout of Lingxi APP 3.0, which provides automated stock selection and market monitoring, as well as the Jun Hong Intelligent Investment service system. The Jun Hong platform is powered by a multi-modal securities vertical large model featuring "hundreds of billions of parameters," the company said.
The board declared an interim cash dividend of 3 yuan for every 10 shares. The dividend will be paid on Oct. 16 to H-shareholders on record as of Sept. 7.
The payout announcement follows recent capital reduction measures by the brokerage, which completed the repurchase and cancellation of 81,712 restricted A shares on July 31 and 47.79 million treasury A shares on Aug. 12.
