Hainan Airlines (SHA:600221, SHA:900945) has signed an aircraft purchase agreement with Netherlands-registered Airbus SE to acquire 40 A320neo series aircraft for up to $5.36 billion, according to a Friday filing with the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The transaction has cleared board approval but remains subject to regulatory and shareholder clearances.
Under the agreed terms, the aircraft will be delivered to the carrier in batches between 2028 and 2032.
