GSK (GSK) said Health Canada approved Exdensur for severe eosinophilic asthma, which is driven by elevated white blood cells, and for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, a condition that causes blockage and inflammation.
Exdensur is the first long-acting biologic in Canada to offer twice-yearly dosing for these conditions, GSK said Tuesday in a statement.
The approval was supported by late-stage trials showing the drug significantly reduced asthma exacerbations, including those requiring hospitalization or emergency care, and reduced nasal polyp size and obstruction versus placebo.
