The Shanghai Composite Index, the main gauge of Chinese stocks, declined 0.1% to 3,979.49. The Shenzhen Component Index decreased 0.1% to 14,692.03.
Market appetite for risky assets was tempered by declines in property and fixed asset investment data.
New home prices in China's 70 major cities decreased 3.2% year over year in July. This was softer than the 3.3% decrease recorded in the previous month and against the Trading Economics forecast of a 3.4% drop.
China's fixed asset investment contracted 6.7% year over year in the first seven months of 2026. The drop was steeper than the 5.7% contraction pace recorded in the prior period and the consensus forecast of a 6.2% decrease tracked by Investing.com.
