Fwusow Industry (TPE:1219) said it may incur losses after supplier Chung Lien Oil & Fats was indicted over soybean salad oil containing excessive levels of benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), according to a Tuesday filing.
The Taiwanese agricultural and consumer foods company said the affected products were supplied to it and resold to customers, resulting in Fwusow being implicated in the case.
The Taichung District Prosecutors Office indicted Chung Lien for alleged violations of Taiwan's food safety and sanitation law, along with other offenses.
Fwusow has asked Chung Lien to assume liability for damages arising from the case and plans to engage legal counsel to take necessary action.
Fwusow added that the potential losses and impact are still under assessment and will depend on the results of judicial proceedings.
