Fujikura (TYO:5803) posted a 157% year-over-year surge in attributable profit for the fiscal first quarter to 80.4 billion yen from 31.3 billion yen.
Net profit per share was 48.58 yen, compared with 18.92 yen a year earlier, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Friday.
Net sales rose 50% to 402.0 billion yen from 267.9 billion yen for the three months ended June 30.
In a separate release, the electrical equipment manufacturer raised its full-year attributable profit forecast to 326.0 billion yen from 229.0 billion yen, net profit per share to 196.88 yen from 138.31 yen and net sales to 1.755 trillion yen from 1.462 trillion yen.
The revision was due to better visibility of large optical component orders for the second half.
The company plans to pay interim and year-end dividends of 19 yen per share each for the current year, which is lower from the year-ago period.
Shares of the company jumped more than 10% in recent trade.
