Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, part of Saudi Arabia's Jameel Energy, plans to expand its renewable energy and storage portfolio in Germany by 2.3 gigawatts through battery energy storage, solar, and hybrid projects, FRV said in a statement on Wednesday.
In Brandenburg, FRV is developing four projects comprising three battery energy storage systems and one hybrid project. The portfolio includes a 750-megawatt battery storage project that is nearing building approval. The Brandenburg projects are expected to achieve ready-to-build status between 2026 and 2028.
In Lower Saxony, the company said it is advancing five projects with a combined planned capacity of nearly 700 MW, including a battery storage facility, a photovoltaic plant, and three hybrid projects.
Key developments include a 600-MW battery storage project currently in the B-Plan phase and a 13.8-MW solar project. These projects are expected to be ready to build between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2028.
FRV is also developing three projects in North Rhine-Westphalia with an estimated total capacity of more than 900 MW, subject to final construction approvals. The portfolio includes two hybrid projects and a battery storage facility. One of the flagship developments is a 900-MW battery energy storage system with 3,600 megawatt-hours of storage capacity. The projects are expected to reach ready-to-build status between late 2027 and the first quarter of 2029.
Beyond the 2.3-GW portfolio, FRV said it is advancing additional projects in Baden-Wurttemberg, Bavaria, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt, and Schleswig-Holstein.
