French electricity producer EDF and artificial intelligence firm Mistral will collaborate in the field of AI to support future development of nuclear reactors, according to a joint statement on Thursday.
Under the five-year partnership, the companies will work together to develop and deploy AI tools suitable for EDF's field teams, to improve responsiveness, efficiency, and operational performance.
EDF said the tools will also enhance access to nuclear engineering knowledge and help optimize construction activities under the European Pressurized Reactor 2 program.
Any data shared for AI tool development will remain the property of EDF and will be hosted on trusted infrastructures, such as sovereign cloud and EDF data centers, the statement said.
