FirstEnergy (FE) said Friday its unit Jersey Central Power & Light filed a rate proposal with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities seeking a $253 million increase in base distribution rates, which would raise bills by about 7% when proposed offsets expire in 2028.
The filing also seeks recovery of $476 million in previously deferred storm costs through a separate charge effective January 2028, spread over 10 years, the company said.
