Equifax (EFX), Fair Isaac (FICO), and TransUnion (TRU) shares fell on Friday after Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte criticized credit bureaus of overcharging American consumers.
Pulte said in a post on X on Thursday that Equifax, Experian and TransUnion "have been overcharging Americans for far too long," adding that the FHFA is "seriously considering bi-merge, and stronger solutions (SAFER and SOUNDER)."
He said the agency "will not allow companies to take advantage of American consumers."
Equifax shares declined 7% and TransUnion was down over 6%, while Fair Isaac shares fell 16% in Friday trading.
