ESR-REIT Reports AU$12.2 Million in Rent Arrears From Australian Tenants

By

ESR-REIT (SGX:9A4U) said Australian tenants ACFS Port Logistics and TZI 1 have arrears of about AU$12.2 million in rent as of July 31, according to a Friday Singapore Exchange filing.

Both tenants also entered administration on Aug. 6, while receivers were also appointed to ACFS Port Logistics.

The REIT said it drew on bank guarantees held against the leases to reduce the unpaid amount to about AU$1.5 million. It has also issued notices demanding payment.

ACFS leases three ESR-REIT properties in Australia and accounted for about 5.2% of the REIT's rental income as of June 30. Administrators and receivers will decide whether ACFS will continue operating from the properties.

If ACFS leaves, ESR-REIT said it will seek new tenants and take other legal or contractual steps as needed.
