California-based digital infrastructure company Equinix (EQIX) has entered into a renewable energy power purchase agreement with Flo Energy Singapore, its fourth such agreement in Singapore in the last couple of years, it said on Tuesday.
The PPA is expected to help Equinix secure at least 11.5 megawatts peak of renewable power generated from industrial and commercial rooftop solar installations in Singapore, taking its local renewable energy portfolio in the country to about 215MWp by 2028, its statement said.
The agreement terms also provide an option for Equinix to increase the capacity to up to 50MWp over time.
Overall, Equinix's Singapore agreements are projected to generate about 250,000 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, equivalent to the annual charging needs of about 60,000 electric vehicles in Singapore.
Following this agreement, the company has over 1,490 MW of wind and solar PPAs under contract spread across 11 countries, including Australia, India, Japan and Singapore.
