Chinese green technology company Envision Energy said Thursday it will supply 660 megawatt-hours of battery storage for South Africa's Naos-1 solar power project, following an agreement with renewable energy firm Sola and construction firm WBHO.
Naos-1 integrates 300 MW of solar generation with 660 MWh of storage to address challenges in renewable intermittency, according to the statement.
Aside from designing and manufacturing the BESS, Envision said it will also handle system operation and maintenance under a 25-year service agreement.
Envision will leverage its vertically integrated BESS expertise in the deal, which also expands the company's footprint in Africa.
