Eni (E) has started enhanced gas production off the coast of Libya, in partnership with Libyan National Oil, the Italian integrated energy producer said Monday.
Eni disclosed that the Sabratha Compression Project, an offshore development designed to sustain and increase gas output from the Bahr Essalam gas field, is operational.
The project consists of the installation of a new 1,600-ton compression module on the Sabratha platform that enhances production under low-pressure conditions, offsetting the natural decline of the Bahr Essalam field, the company said.
Eni said it has other new projects underway in Libya, including the development of two additional offshore gas fields.
