Ren-Gas is accelerating its Finnish e-methane projects after the European Investment Bank raised its financing framework to 680 million euros ($790 million), the company said Thursday.
EIB approved a larger debt financing mandate for Ren-Gas, increasing its framework from 230 million euros to support the company's e-methane production portfolio.
The framework will provide project-level financing for Ren-Gas's Finnish developments, including its first Tampere project, which the company targets to begin construction during Q4 2026.
"This is an important milestone for us and the industry, providing evidence that you can create bankable green hydrogen projects and attract financing partners for them," said Ren-Gas CFO, Juhani Hayrinen.
Ren-Gas has six production plant projects across Finland and works with local energy utilities to integrate sectors and use existing infrastructure.
The company has helped develop the e-methane value chain and secured long-term contracts for green hydrogen and heat from its projects, creating stronger foundations for project development, Ren-Gas said.
