The US Energy Information Administration will start releasing a new quarterly energy security dataset from Wednesday, the agency said in a Tuesday update.
The dataset will include information on global Strategic Petroleum Reserves and petroleum and liquefied natural gas flows through vital shipping chokepoints.
It will be published separately from the EIA's Short-Term Energy Outlook, based on the availability of underlying datasets necessary for the analysis.
"The timing of resumed oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz and the subsequent rate at which Middle Eastern producers restore output are key factors influencing EIA's price forecast through year end," said Tristan Abbey, EIA Administrator.
The new datasets will track global strategic stocks and shipping chokepoints for petroleum and gas markets, providing timely context and additional depth, Abbey noted.
