Colombia's state-run oil firm Ecopetrol (EC) said on Monday it had appointed corporate finance executive Alfonso Camilo Barco Munoz as acting chief executive officer, effective Sept. 15.
Barco, currently Ecopetrol's corporate vice president of finance and sustainable value, will replace Juan Carlos Hurtado Parra, who is retiring under a plan approved in July.
Hurtado most recently served as executive vice president of hydrocarbons and had also been acting CEO of Ecopetrol.
Ecopetrol also said Hildebrando Velez Galeano had submitted his resignation as a member of its board, effective Sept. 15.
The company credited Velez Galeano with guiding environmental initiatives and strengthening ties with local communities and regional stakeholders during his tenure.
