Dubai-based BB Energy has secured three further cargoes of crude oil from the Republic of South Sudan, with deliveries in August, September and November, it said in a press statement on Wednesday, as part of a settlement of an outstanding payment to the company.
The company said that in consideration of "these awards", it had agreed to relax existing injunction restrictions preventing the country from accepting payment in advance for crude oil cargoes. The relaxation of that injunction would last until Nov. 30, the statement said.
The injunction was originally imposed, according to media reports, after South Sudan failed to deliver $142 million of oil BB Energy had paid for in deals in 2024 and 2025.
BB later reached a deal under which it agreed to the lifting of the injunction, after requests by rival traders Euro American and Meridian Energy who were fearful it would in turn prevent them receiving oil that they had already paid for.
BB Energy said this agreement was reached through "constructive discussions" with South Sudan and other market participants involved.
"The three cargoes will assist in paying down the amount outstanding to BB Energy, and each of BB Energy and the Republic of South Sudan is committed to negotiating a long-term solution for the full balance over the coming months," the statement said.
