Datang International Power Sees 29% Rise in Q1 Profit; Shares Jump 9%

Datang International Power Generation (HKG:0991, SHA:601991) recorded 2.89 billion yuan in attributable profit for the first quarter of 2026, up 29% from 2.24 billion yuan a year earlier, according to a Hong Kong bourse filing Tuesday.

The Chinese power company's Hong Kong shares rose 9% during Wednesday's afternoon trade.

Earnings per share were 0.1408 yuan, compared with 0.1004 yuan in the prior-year period.

Operating revenue rose marginally to 30.27 billion yuan from 30.21 billion yuan a year ago.

In a separate filing, Datang International said it formed a joint venture with Jiangsu Guoxin Group and Ordos New Energy to advance a transmission project in China's Inner Mongolia region.

Datang will inject 5.1 billion yuan into the JV for a 51% stake, Jiangsu Guoxin will contribute 3.4 billion yuan for 4% equity, and Ordos will infuse 1.5 billion yuan for 15% shareholding.
