Daqo New Energy to Build 6 Billion Yuan Facility; Shares Soar 20%

Xinjiang Daqo New Energy (SHA:688303) plans to construct an energy system manufacturing base for 6 billion yuan, according to a Shanghai bourse filing on Thursday.

The project will be constructed in two phases.

The polysilicon materials manufacturer's subsidiary, Daqo Energy Technology (Shanghai), entered into an investment agreement with Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Administrative Committee, which will help establish a new independent legal entity for the manufacturing base.

The manufacturing base will produce smart energy system products, such as energy storage systems and solid-state transformers, circuit breakers and batteries.

The company's shares surged 20% during the afternoon trade.
