Dabur India Sees Limited Impact of Indian Food Regulator's Ban on Some Product Labels

By

Dabur India (NSE:DABUR, BOM:500096) sees limited impact of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)'s recent order that prohibits the company from selling certain products such as honey, cow ghee, and edible oils for using misleading claims.

"The impact on the Company's business operations, financial position or performance is limited to objected food products only," the company said in a clarification statement on Tuesday.

The company has refuted claims made by the FSSAI in its recent order, which forbids Dabur India from selling products with '100%' claims, saying that such labelling is against the law.

The company said it had also clarified to an earlier FSSAI notice dated April 8 that no such claim of "100% Pure" is being used on the objected products' labels.

However, it added that the company had already started transitioning the product labels as mentioned in the FSSAI letter to new labels and advertisements without the 100% claim.

The company is also seeking legal advice on the future course of action.
