Court Rules in Favor of KT&G in Employee Invention Compensation Lawsuit

By

A Korean court has dismissed portions of an employee invention compensation lawsuit and denied the remaining claims brought against KT&G (KRX:033780) by plaintiff Kwak Dae-geun.

The Daejeon District Court ruled that some claims relating to Korean registered patents 10-0636287 and 10-0769555 violated a non-suit agreement, while the rest lacked merit.

The plaintiff bears litigation costs, and no settlement amount was awarded, according to a bourse filing on Friday.

The ruling, dated and confirmed on Sept. 17, 2026, follows KT&G's May 7, 2024 disclosure of the lawsuit and is based on consolidated financial statements as of end-2025.
