Court Orders CH Biotech to Pay Chunghwa Telecom NT$4.5 Million

CH Biotech R&D (TPE:6534) was ordered by the Taiwan Nantou District Court to pay Chunghwa Telecom (TPE:2412) NT$4.5 million plus interest in a civil litigation case, according to a Tuesday Taiwan Stock Exchange filing.

The dispute stemmed from two project contracts the companies signed in 2017 for the CH Biotech new factory and office low-voltage engineering project and a personnel control system implementation project.

CH Biotech said defects were identified during and after construction and that it repeatedly notified Chunghwa Telecom to rectify them, but the systems remained unable to function normally, preventing formal acceptance.

The company said its operations and financial condition remain normal and that it has retained legal counsel to appeal the judgment.
